To be concise Cloud Computing is just a fancy way of using computers over the Internet. However, with this simple structure becoming an everyday matter, it made huge changes to the world.
Today, we use computers to play games, look at photos, watch movies, and buy things. Money, videos, letters, games and everything else exist as data on computers, which calculates their value for us humans. Additionally, in almost all cases, it requires internet communication. A consumer pays money to a seller online, and it’s the same when you upload photos and watch streaming movies.
Until the end of the 20th century, it was normal for companies and individuals to have computers and utilize telecommunication connections through contracts. Moreover, they had to store and hold the data calculated inside their computers.
When the 21st century came, specifically around 2010, with improvements to the Internet, Web, and several other important information technologies caused “Cloud Computing” to become mainstream.
When using cloud computing, you, as a user, are able to buy virtual computers like buying ebooks on the Web.The substance of cloud computing exists on a physical server, and it calculates, reads, and writes data, but the user doesn’t need to worry about where it exists in the cloud.
Why has cloud computing become explosively popular only several years after it appeared?
Before cloud computing, companies obtained expensive computers by forecasting how many were needed, ordering them, and then waiting a few months for them to be delivered. Also, if the forecasting was misestimated, more computers needed to be ordered, or they would just be wasted. Moreover, computer advances are like dog years; if you obtain an expensive computer, it’ll be dead in several years.
However, since cloud computing appeared, it has allowed companies to increase or descrease the number of computers they use by tens or hundreds in a matter of minutes, depending on the calculations and data they hundle.
The cloud computing costs are pay-per-use, where invoicing occurs only between the creation and the destruction of virtual computers. So, it’s not only for big businesses now; individuals and small companies use these virtual computers with just a credit card. For example, if you have $1,000, you can’t buy a high-performance computer but can use the newest one on a cloud computing service for one month. These cloud computing has energized many markets, and many new internet services and businesses have been created. This is the reason why cloud computing is popular today.
A new buzzword like cloud computing is challenging to understand, and the internal structures of these innovations are undoubtedly made by enhanced technologies. On the other hand, the core of cloud computing consists simply of using computers over the Internet. That’s it.
